Thank you very much for visiting our website. OliverFinnie.com is a unique website dedicated to the history of a unique company, Oliver-Finnie of Memphis, Tennessee. On this site, we are committed to serving as a meeting place for people who remember the company and can help us preserve its legacy.

Oliver-Finnie was a grocers supply company that ground and roasted its own coffee, made its own chocolate and had its own unique brands. The Company's brands/products included Silver Moon Coffee, Court Square Coffee, Ketch-Me Coffee, Bonnie Blend Coffee, Royal Coffee, Dad's Coffee and Chicory, Silver Moon Baking Powder, Silver Moon Pancake Flour, and Silver Moon Buckwheat Flour.  The Company's factory was located near the Mississippi river at 7 Vance Street in Memphis, Tennessee. We believe the Company was in business for approximately 75 years before being liquidated in the late 1950's.

 		   Oliver-Finnie, just prior to the death of CEO Maynard Holt and the Company's dissolution, won a major lawsuit with the US government involving C-rations for the Korean War.

This website is dedicated to the memory of Oliver Finnie's last CEO, Robert Maynard Holt.
 

Mr. Holt excelled at virtually everything he touched in his life. He graduated from the Culver Military Academy in 1923 and from Washington and Lee in 1927. While at W&L, he played football for four years, was captain of the wrestling team his sophomore year, was on the Freshman Council, was Student Body President, and was a member of the school's Sigma Society. It was after college that he returned to his native Memphis and joined Oliver Finnie. He was an instrumental force at the Company for nearly 30 years. He left us early in his life but his spirit and commitment to excellence will be with us always. (Obituary, September 14, 1960)
